Creative UK Lambeth supports 12 creative businesses to improve their financial resilience
Lambeth Council has partnered with Creative UK to deliver a bespoke business support programme for creative organisations that have previously received capital investment from the Council.
The programme has helped organisations strengthen their financial resilience, safeguard jobs and develop new products, while generating new evidence to support future investment in London’s creative economy.
Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund through the Mayor of London, Creative UK Lambeth has, over three months, supported 12 creative businesses through a programme of mentoring, workshops and networking events to build their resilience and grow sustainably. Participants have been encouraged to look at ways to make the most of their new and improved assets and explore ways to diversify their income streams. In doing so, they have safeguarded 25 jobs, created a further three jobs and are on track to develop and launch 11 new products.
The programme directly supports the ambitions of Lambeth’s Creative Economy Strategy by helping creative organisations become more resilient, investment-ready and able to grow sustainably. In doing so, it contributes to jobs, innovation and inclusive economic growth, while strengthening the evidence base for future investment in the sector.
The impact has been felt across every organisation taking part. 91% of participants reported increased confidence and knowledge of income generation, while every participant agreed that the programme provided clear and actionable steps to tackle the challenges their organisation faces. Importantly, 100% confirmed that the programme had a positive impact on their organisation.
The findings from the programme will help inform Lambeth’s ongoing work to support the growth of its creative economy.
