59 studios at Artist Studio Company at Streatham Hill have been safeguarded through our Future Workspace Fund investment.

Artist’s Studio Company (ASC) is the leading charitable provider of affordable artists and makers workspace in Greater London and has been in operation for over 27 years.
Since 1993, they have developed 22 buildings totalling over 445,000 sq ft and supporting over 8,000 artists. They have numerous studios across the city, and currently provide affordable space to 342 artists and makers across three buildings in Lambeth. However, ASC will lose 2 of these properties to development in the next 2 years.
The Future Workspace Fund has provided £200,000 of grant funding to ASC to contribute towards the purchase of their property in Streatham Hill and make improvements to it. This allows them to safeguard the space for 59 artists and makers and maintain the affordable rental levels these studios are currently provided at.
The council has secured numerous social value outputs through investment in the site, including the provision of a free studio space for two years for an Artist-in-Residence at the site on a rolling basis between 2021 and 2031.

The London Borough of Lambeth’s Future Workspace Fund came to the rescue to safeguard the site with a grant of £200K allowing ASC to secure a NatWest mortgage to purchase the property.
