Leading the way on affordable workspace
Lambeth Council has been recognised by a national award scheme for its work on supporting growing and start-up business through affordable workspace.
The council was highly commended for its ‘Lambeth Works’ programme, which innovatively provides flexible workspace for small and growing businesses. The project has already led to the creation of workspaces across the borough – Tripod and Pop Brixton in Brixton, Granby Space and Build Studios in Waterloo – collectively supporting over 300 business and creating more than 200 new jobs to date.
Lameth Work’s next project, International House, has just opened doors to entrepreneurs and is recognised as one of London’s largest affordable workspaces.
The winners of the Enterprising Britain Awards were announced in September, with Lambeth highly commended in the category of ‘Improving the Business Environment’.
The Enterprising Britain Awards celebrate the work of public sector and UK Government-backed organisations that support and encourage entrepreneurial spirit, with entrants competing in four categories – Promoting Entrepreneurial Spirit, Building Enterprise Skills, Improving the Business Environment and Support for Exporting.
