Young creatives graduate from Next Us Bootcamp

Lambeth’s creative sector gained 30 new, skilled young talents this summer as participants graduated from the Next Us Creative Bootcamp, delivered in partnership with local youth organisation Trash Gxng.

Over several weeks, participants developed both practical and professional skills, from the creative process behind a project activation, to problem-solving and structuring effective pitches. The bootcamp placed a strong focus on graphic design and event management, providing industry insights and the confidence to apply them in real-world settings.

Cllr Marcia Cameron, Cabinet Member for Inclusion, said:

  • Our young people in Lambeth are bursting with creative ideas and potential, and we must support them into meaningful, well-paid work. The Next Us bootcamp is a brilliant example of what’s possible when we invest in that potential. Congratulations to everyone who took part, and thank you to our incredible partners for making it happen.

Next Us is a collaboration between ELEVATE and Lambeth Made, funded by the Mayor of London’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It supports young people furthest from the jobs market into careers within the creative and digital sectors, a key priority in delivering Lambeth’s Growth Plan commitment to building a skilled workforce for the borough’s thriving creative economy.

Graduates are now guaranteed interviews for paid work experience placements and internships within creative organisations, all paid at London Living Wage. This pathway strengthens the local talent pipeline, ensuring Lambeth’s creative industries continue to grow with input from the communities they serve.

The next bootcamp will run in October, offering more young people the chance to gain skills, confidence and direct access to job opportunities.
