Lambeth Seeks Expressions of Interest for Brixton Basement Space
The Somerleyton Road scheme brings a rare opportunity to lease a large basement space in the heart of Brixton.
The council’s Somerleyton Road scheme is underway and will see almost 3,000 square metres of work space built in Brixton, along with 300 homes, community spaces and a new theatre.
The Ovalhouse Theatre, currently in Kennington, will relocate to Brixton as part of the development, bringing a new dimension to Brixton’s cultural offer.
With the new Ovalhouse building set for completion by early 2021, the council are now seeking proposals for commercial use of the basement.
This is a large space of just over 1,000 square metres will be handed over shell and core, offering lots of versatility for fit out. A long term lease will also be available for proposals aligned to the council’s strategic aims.
Lambeth are particularly keen to see ideas that share our ambitions to promote growth in the creative and digital industries, to nurture a new creative cluster.
As the basement sits below the theatre, proposals for the space will need to be sensitive to noise.
